The name of the series originated in a quote from Steve Sabol of NFL Films: Originating as an NFL Network special on the career of Bill Parcells in November 2010, it premiered as an episodic series on September 15, 2011, with the first part of Bill Belichick's documentary. The documentary was viewed by about 657,000 viewers, the most-watched documentary in NFL Network's history, and was the second-most watched program in Boston at the time with 151,000 viewers, trailing behind a Boston Red Sox game. Season One was eventually released on DVD. Season Two began on September 12, 2012, with The Faces of Tebow. The series was nominated for an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Edited Sports Series/Anthology" and "Outstanding Promotional Announcement – Episodic" for Belichick's episode in 2012.

The game is complicated by the addition of Flux, which enhances a player's attributes such as speed, strength, and agility, or grants special powers such as teleportation. The story follows the fate of an inexperienced Galactik Football team, the Snow Kids, as they aim to compete in the Galactik Football Cup.
Fantasy Football League is a British television programme hosted by Frank Skinner and David Baddiel. The programme began on BBC Radio 5 and was hosted by Dominik Diamond before transferring to BBC2, with three series being broadcast from January 1994 to May 1996. The show then moved to ITV for live specials on alternate nights throughout 1998 World Cup and then again through the 2004 European Championship. It is not known if the show is ever likely to return. In its absence, Baddiel and Skinner instead went on to produce a series of podcasts for The Times, documenting their experiences while travelling across Germany at the 2006 World Cup. The success of these led to the duo being signed by Absolute Radio, where they hosted a similar show from South Africa during the 2010 World Cup.

Another regular, was current Socceroo Lucas Neill, who offered an insight into his club life at Galatasaray, as well as commenting on issues within the current Australian national team. John Kosmina, John Aloisi and others have joined the show as a 'guest third analyst' of the show. The show showcased the A-League and international competitions such as the English Premier League. It also featured in-depth interviews with current and former players.

The Real Football Factories was the first series, where presenter and actor Danny Dyer travelled the UK, meeting some of the more notorious football firms. Dyer played the main character of Tommy Johnson, a main member of a fictional Chelsea firm in the 2004 film The Football Factory. In 'The Real Football Factories International', Dyer visits Turkey, Argentina, Italy, Croatia and Serbia, The Netherlands, Brazil, Poland and Russia. In late 2007, The Score in Canada started to broadcast these episodes along with "The Real Football Factories." But with an altered soundtrack due to copyright issues. In Australia, Friday Night Football is the broadcasting of both the Australian Football League and National Rugby League Friday night matches on television. Friday Night Football is generally considered to be the biggest stage and generates the most publicity for the clubs involved in both codes. The Seven Network have the broadcast rights for the AFL, while the Nine Network holds the rights to the NRL which it has had held since 1992. Both codes are shown in all states and territories, however the timing and scheduling depends on which code is more dominant in its respective state. The dominant codes are Australian rules football in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania; and rugby league in New South Wales, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory. In the dominant states, Friday Night Football is broadcast on the respective networks primary channels. Historically, the code which was not deemed the dominant code for its state was shown in a late-night timeslot, however with the addition of multi-channels, the networks have been able to show matches live all across the country from 2012. AFL matches in New South Wales, Queensland and ACT are shown on 7mate while NRL matches are shown in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia on GEM.

The programme is broadcast from MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester. The programme previously formed part of the Grandstand programme but has since August 2001 been considered a show in its own right. Prior to the launch of Match of the Day 2, it was often the first chance for viewers to see analysis of the Sunday and Monday Premier League games. The programme is now a weekly magazine, with reports from across the country at all levels of English and Scottish football. It previews the weekend's fixtures and provides updates from the early Premier League game. Since BBC have the rights to Premier League highlights, Football Focus also shows the key moments from the midweek matches. A version of the programme which looks at world football airs on BBC World News. The theme song for the programme is different for each new season. For the 2002/03 season it was "Backaround" by Elevator Suite. The 2003/04 season featured a cover of the Stevie Nicks track "Stand Back" by Linus Loves featuring Sam Obernik. For the 2007/08 season it was "Kill The Director" by The Wombats and for the 2009/2010 season it was Jetstream by Doves, from the album Kingdom of Rust. For the 2012/13 it was "Undegpedwar" by Y Niwl from the self-titled album.
